I need you guys to rally for her today. She's driving 65 miles away to interview for a pharmaceutical sales rep position for Proctor & Gamble. She really needs this job....not only that, it wouldn't be bad to have a second income to help pay the bills around here. :p

She graduated college in December and wants to go to Physician's Assistant school....it's like a Master's Degree in medicine.

But she's bummed because she's been serving/bartending for the last year and wants to get a REAL job now that she has a degree. She needs it more for her self esteem than anything. I don't make all that much money at my job, but pay the mortgage and bills. If she got this job, we'd be in great shape financially. ;)

Yep I have had nothing but BS jobs since I finished school so i know how it feels. In fact i am going to try and get a POS 12hr job this week.

Hope she is happy with it if she gets it. Mind you she will need to sell her soul and lie as that is about 90% of a pharmaceutical sales rep job.

GL to her! Pharm sales reps actually make a LOT of money, and often are given company cars + gas to meet with doctors and hospitals

I wouldn't have a problem with that after we pay some stuff off and I finish getting my MBA (next May)and some experience doing something other than IT...I've got to diversify my skillset or I'll be stuck.

We're hoping to buy some land between our parents' houses and settle there. If she stays home with the kids, it will only be for 5-7 years...then she'll need another job, so she needs to build up some experience now so she can build her resume get hired later without starting back on the bottom.

I worked for a major pharm company for 15yrs, I can tell you exactly what to expect.

Yes the job will come with a company provided car, and a weekly expense account.
Starting salary will be small but decent, but the commision/bonus potential will be really sweet.

The job will be ultra competitive and quota based, and potentially very stressful. The turn over is quite high in these positions, you can literally be salesperson of the month/year one month, and be fired 2 mos later for not hitting your quota.

Depending on her territory the travel will be constant, our reps logged 50-60k miles a year on their company cars.

Looks makes all the difference, if she is a hottie she will likely do well (Doctors love hotties)

If she is successful and constantly a top seller it will open the door to move up the ladder into sales management rather quickly, and the potential will be there for a six figure salary at a very young age:)

I'm conducting the interview, how much does she want the job exactly ;)

In any case, good luck to her!
