Florsheim is a very good brand of dress shoe.

I guess I'm trying to impress the wrong crowd :)

Well, no, I'm sure some of us here have pairs of Florsheims, I think the problem was you didn't like any pictures or anything where we could go oooooooo ahhhhhhhh and than debate the "omfg you overpaid, I only need walmart shoes ftmfw".

You had potential with this thread for a 300 reply flamefest..and you failed miserably.

I will take Gordon Rush or Kenneth Cole any day over those, not that Florsheim are bad or anything.

*Cough*

Way to pay too much, jesus, no one cares about your shoes, I could buy some lookalikes for 20$ from Walmart and no one would blink an eye.

*cough*

Florsheim's are kind of an old-man's company ;) A decent brand, but rather staid in their designs...a little too traditional across the board for me. Good for work shoes though.

Lol I didn't even realize I was wearing a pair of Florsheims until I saw this thread and decided to look at the brand. I usually just buy what looks decent and feels comfortable. I have a pair of Rockports that I prefer to these, because they are more comfortable, but these Florsheims are pretty good.

I've always worn Florsheims as my dress shoes. They look good and are good quality.

I'm sorry. I was on my mobile browser and the camera icon doesn't show up in it's browser, so all I saw was the "?" in the reply post.

Anyway, I went with conservative business dress:

My last pair lasted 3 years. You do get what you pay for. Their leather tends to polish very well with age, and the insoles/heels/platforms are all repairable or replaceable. I would take my old ones in every 6 months and get them fixed up for $30.

Or buy from Nordstroms and get them fixed for free for life. ;)

All kinda lol in this thread.

Eccos are FTW, I am a shoe kinda guy and they are on my list of top shoes.

What? Eccos aren't even close to the "top". I wouldn't put them in the top20. Poorly made but comfortable doesn't make a good shoe, let alone a top shoe.

My top shoes are...

Peal & Co (Brooks Brothers usually made by Alden or English shoe makers), great deals when on sale.

Allen Edmonds

Gordon Rush (I'll take AE over GR but some GR fit better on me)

I took Johnston Murphy off my list 2 years ago, now it's all trash.

I will take Gordon Rush or Kenneth Cole any day over those, not that Florsheim are bad or anything.

I'll give you Gordon Rush, but never Kenneth Cole. KC is a f'ing waste of time, leather, and money. I've had 3 KC products in my life and I'll never buy one again.

In general, any shoe that's usually around $99 is trash. I have a pair of Bostonians, a pair of Florsheims, and a pair of Rockports, all very poorly made (got them many years ago) and look like crap now. My Bostonians actually had an MDF heel. Yeah, MDF instead of leather. Florsheims cracked despite a lot of care. Rockports' sole split.

You really don't even need to pay all that much more for a really good shoe that'll last you a lifetime. I've got coworkers wearing AE Park Aves they bought in the 80s and they look brand new. You can find those on sale for 250.

I have a pair of eccos. I've had them for almost 4 years now and they still look new when I shine them up. I think the leather uppers will wear out long before the soles will...and the uppers still show virtually zero wear on mine...and I've worn them on my motorcycle before.
