If you needed a new hard drive right away, what brand and size of drive would you buy and why?

sorry, i know this question been asked a billion times already, need to replace two dead ibm drives, yup.. ibm deathstar :)

Fastest IDE HD on earth, at least until Seagate's Barracuda V comes out.

I presume you're asking about IDE hard drives?

If so.. Id go with a Maxtor drive 740K-JL ? not sure if that model # is correct but its the model with the liquid bearings. They are fast, quiet, and they operate very cool.

Other than Maxtor.. I have personally used western digitals and seagates. I have never had any luck with WD's, they always seem to die on me. and with seagate drives; they run way to hot.
