So my pops decided that he liked his old 300c so much, that he went ahead and bought an SRT8 version.

Man, this thing is one ugly mofo. I got to take it on a test drive, and MAN, when you put the pedal down, the damn thing roars and just rams its way forward. It just has an angry feel to it. I like it. 🙂

I used to think my Jetta had a nice pull, but this car makes my car feel anemic. I've been corrupted. I think I finally understand the whole muscle car mentality now.

There are a couple of things I hate about the car:
1) Interior is ugly -- seats are uncomfortable for long periods.

2) The automatic transmission. This engine is crying for a manual version. I haven't been driving manual cars for long, but I am positive I can shift better. I know in my heart that I can.

3) The suspension is extremely stiff, I like a hard ride (lol) but this is recockulous. I hit a pothole and thought the car would fall apart.

4) The steering wheel is extremely lazy and soft. I mean wtf? A car like this should be heavy and require very little circling to turn it. I shouldn't have to make a complete circle to turn a corner. ugh.

What I like:

1) The engine...and thats all that matters. The car is sick...lol

Here is me posing at the gas station and what it cost to put only 4/5th of a tank of gas. The gas light wasn't even on yet and it still cost that much.

And a quick rev on youtube. The engine cuts fuel at 4k rpm in park, so it seems sorta clumsy.

I don't care what you think is in your heart, you can't.

You really think so? I think it shifts rather lazily. I hate the automatic feel. 🙁

Good choice on the SRT8. Thats the dealership on Hempstead Tpke right? Hope they gave you a good price on it. Considering the gas prices, no cylinder deactivation, I can't imagine those are selling that well. Lotsa power, you'll like the 2nd gear squirt as it comes out of a sweeper. The VW doesn't make enough torque to give you that kind of push. Also, big displacement, torque monster motors are much more suited to an automatic transmission. If you want, drop it down a slot and you can push it to shift.

Interesting note, you are the first black man I've ever seen driving a Jetta.

lol, I am just a really dark Indian. 😀

When is he putting it on 22s?

never, i hope. the 300 SRT8's wheels are perfect for the car - aggressive, solid, and classy. no need for attention-whore chrome gheyness.

It shifts "lazy" by design...especially under power....its called torque management, and its there to keep people from ripping the trans apart...

The PCM pulls the injector pulse width down to just about nothing milliseconds before a shift...

There is a way to disable it and I did it to my boss's SRT-8 Jeep, but I would not recommend it unless your familiar with rebuilding the A-580 Trans..🙂

what you're describing is pretty much every american car out there. build quality ftl. the mentality of more horsepower by using bigger engine without regards for interior design & quality ftl.

I was messing around with one of these on the freeway the other night (2am, completely empty freeway, and no, I'm not going to say how fast we were going). Let's just say that versus my M3, I was expecting him to pull a lot harder than he was.

And the lack of tighter steering.
