My specs:
Athlon 64 3000 (754)
Asus K8V
1G corsair
Powercolor X800 GTO agp
Omega 6.03
Nothing OC'd

Patch 1.33 Running at 1280x1024x32, 2x AA, AF-1, everything set to medium and my fps still dips to the 20's in some parts of the game, normally average around 50-70 fps. Tried different drivers, not much difference. Background processes at a minimum. Shouldn't i be doing a little better than this? Is there some tweak i'm missing or is my cpu a bottleneck? Is this game that much of a hog?

Thanks.

Did you used to get 50-70 fps in farcry with that video card and that resolution? Or is that just what your thinking you should get.?

The game is a hog. That would be accurate for a system like that. I'm assuming you have an LCD with native 1280x1024, otherwise I would tell you to turn down the resolution. Disableing AA will definately give you a boost. With an A64 2800+ @ 2.2GHz and a 6600 GT, I used to get 48 FPS on the Regulator demo on Ultra settings, no AA/AF. You could try overclocking your CPU a little bit, you could probably get 3400+ speeds pretty easy. If you think your game is still running slow make sure your drivers are updated and that nothing is overheating.

1280x1024 is tough for far cry..

I used to get amazing FPS with 4xAA in 1024x768 i went to 1280x1024.. and i couldnt find any decent high settings that would be playable anymore :(

Your CPU is the problem, especially if the framerate is dropping outdoors. You can confirm this by lowering your resolution to 640x480 and checking to see if performance increases much or not.

Also make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system.

QFT, FC is very CPU limited Guru3D.com
As you can see, not a huge lead here. I can explain this though. I've been telling you for many months now that this game is CPU limited and we need a faster CPU to make the GPU produce better scores.
