My fan died:(

My Vantec Aeroflow fan decided to quit.(only 4 month old) 🙁 I was playing a game without the fan running for a couple more minuts, didnt notice untill the game started to slow down. I shut down my PC then touched the HS, it's very hot! I'm wondering if my CPU is permanently damaged and if theres a way to check before I get a new HSF? I bought my parts online so I wanna get things done right once. Also anyone know if the HSF warranty covers the CPU damge due to fan failure?

if the PC was still running when you shut down it's probably going to be fine... just don't power back up until you've got a working HSF on there!
if the computer wasn't totally locked up because of this, i honestly wouldn't worry! I had the same HSF on my P4, that's bad luck!

If it's a P4 it should be fine. The "slowing down" was probably the CPU throttling itself back to keep from frying itself - exactly what it was designed to do in such a situation.

if it's a P4 as sonoran said probably is ok, when a processor fry's... it really fry's and generally burn in fire, not a joke...
Luck
