I ordered a guitar amp from their website. I selected it and I checked out and gave them my debit card number. The order went through. Several days later I get an e-mail from them saying the guitar amp is out of stock, and that more are coming in. It was a good deal, so I decided to wait. I get another e-mail saying that the guitar amp I ordered is no longer in production and that I won't be able to get it. They ask for my phone number so that they can call me and talk to me first hand.

Me
"Well, I guess I'll just get my money back then."

Him
"Well, we don't really do that. We have the exact amount in store credit right now. Can I interest you in the twin channel model of the amp? It's only a couple extra hundred."

Me
"Well, only if you can just send it to me. I don't really want to pay extra for it, but since I've had to deal with all this waiting, I'll take it at no extra charge."

Him
"Sorry, we can't do that."

Me
"Well, I might be interested in it. That is still a pretty good price, let me get back to you."

Him
"Okay, we'll hold it for you."

Another day passes, and I decide not to buy it. I send them an e-mail saying I don't want to buy it and that I just want my money back. They don't respond. So I call them.

Me
"I decided not to buy it. I want my money back."

Him
"What? I've been holding it for you waiting for you to send me the difference."

Me
"No, I said I'd think about it and I decided I didn't want it."

Him
"Fine. I'll see if I can get your money refunded."

A week goes by and my account is still not credited. I send them another e-mail expressing my whole terrible experience. It goes something like this...

"Look, it's been a week now, and my money has still not been returned. I ordered an amp that your website said was in stock and you charged my card, took my money, and then later told me you didn't have it. You tried to talk me into buying a more expensive amp, but I decided not to, and you have not been very nice about wanting to refund my money. Not only that, but it's been a week now since I've asked for a refund, and you still have not done it. If I don't recieve it by the end of this week, I will be calling my bank and I will be calling Visa. Thank you."

Next day they reply with this

"Look pal, you authorized our use of your debit card and you told me on the phone you wanted the twin-channel amp so we were nice enough to hold it for you. Well, since you're being so nice about this, I think I'll go ahead and charge you a 15% restocking fee for it too. You'll get your money soon."

I was furious, so I called Visa and let them know what happened. The lady just said that businesses are allowed up to 30 days to refund a purchase. Okay, so they had 30 days. But a restocking fee for something they didn't have and for an item that I didn't even say I wanted to buy? They can't do that. This was an $1100 amp and a 15% restocking fee would have been $165.

I called Orange Amplifiers USA (great amps, BTW) and I spoke to the president himself. He said that he knew the owners of Juniors Music since they were Orange dealers. So, he gave them a call and bitched them out. He then called me back and told me that my refund would be guaranteed in full. And it was.

I will never give my business to Juniors Music again, and if you live near Connecticut, I suggest you stay away from them as well. They have a good selection, but wow, their customer service sucks and they are assholes too.

Only real question I have is why does a business get 30 days to refund a purchase for something they don't have and will not have? Shouldn't they have simply voided/canceled the transaction? The president of Orange said it sounded like they had already spent my money and were holding out as long as possible.

Cliffs:

1.Order amp online and my card gets charged.
2.They don't have amp, so they try to get me to buy another one.
3.I say maybe, but will get back to them. I decide not to.
4.They are hesitant to refund my money so I send them an e-mail expressing my dissatisfaction.
5. They tell me lies and that they are going to charge me 15% ($165) for being rude when they do refund my money.
6. I call amp company, and they straighten everything out.

If what you transcribed is accurate, you should really post reviews in all the usual places & let it be known. Give praise to the manufacturer as well.
