my experience with artic silver

well the artic silver arrived in the mail today.. i tried it with a retail intel hsf and a gorb. it's hell trying to put these suckers on.. anyways, here are my results

i used to get about 50c/121f (seti) the intel hsf and whatever that white stuff is.. which, btw, was melted and became hard when i checked today.. i never got the gorb to work in the first place, when i originally bought it.. so nothing to compare to.

after i put on the artic silver.. and i tried the gorb.. it was about 155 and might have still been going up.. NOTE: i'm not sure if i put on the gorb properly.. the artic silver seemed to touch on a side/edge of the heatsink.. isn't it supposed to be at the center?? maybe i reversed the sides i'm supposed to attach on.. but didn't seem possible to attach it the other way, so i tried the simplier way... might not have been the right way.. soo.. my results could be inaccurate.. i'm using a cusl2, in case someone else is using a gorb and can give me some insight on this matter.. oh yeah, i hate twisting to get this damn thing on.. i fear for my poor mobo and chip.. :frown:

as for the intel hsf.. it's might easier to install. at least i think so.. the temps for this was actually lower.. woohoo! so i'm happy. it's running at 114f (seti) now.. so it's a difference of roughly 7f.

i'm not sure if i'm going to get the nerve to try the gorb again.. the twisting is soo difficult. and the fact i didn't get results near the intel hsf.. or i'm doing it wrong.. 😱

was it worth it? sure, i think it's great. i wanted to stay away from 50c and it helped me to do that. 🙂

I use 3dcool.com copper spacers, and my gorb temps are 40C on a CUSL2 bios 1003. the 1001a bios had a temp reading error.
