All:

They are few success stories when we have to deal with a motherboard manufacturer support team.

Here is a SUCCESS story that I would like to share about Aopen Customer support:

As a owner of AX4R+, I registered the product on Aopen's website and left feedback on the product on their web site.

First: I would like to thank your engineering

Three says later I get an email from customer support asking for my mailing address so that they can send me the SPDIF bracket and the BIOS chip. I was given a shipping date of 2/10/03. I received both these items on 2/13/03 by DHL but the BIOS chip did not work. Emailed back to Aopen Complaint center and another chip was shipped by DHL. Received and installed successfully just now. All this cost me nothing.

I am stunned.

Wow, nice! Now tell them that you wish they shipped an 80GB WD SE drive with the motherboard, as well as a "trial" Tbred B chip 😉.

Seriously though, it's good to hear motherboard companies are starting to pay more attention to their customers. Kudos to Abit for doing that!

AOpen was great back in the BX days, but from the 815 on they've been mediocre at best. They've been improving lately, so hopefully they'll keep it up to get back to the top.

Still have some of the AOpen black beauties faithfully ticking away somewhere.
I always thought of them kind of like the Chevy of the M/B business back then.
"Like a rock!"

I used to run an AX59Pro for my K6-2 processor on my main system -- ran if for as long as I've run any system as my primary -- I really liked that board.
