Thats an idealogical choice. Do we want to look like mexico or any other third world shiy hole where wealth/power is concetrated in a few hands or even here in the USA prior to the new deal? Since reagan it's been going that way. I see great wealth. I also see extreme poverty thats really opened my eyes. I've been to a number of SE Asian countries, including the Phillipines and China, and honestly the levels of poverty in the USA match them. I see beggars on the street almost in every major city. And millions of crimmials to resort to crime to survive.

I don't think equal distribution of wealth is the way to go just ensuring that the bottom does not fall out of the society whereby masses are forced to roam the streets homeless or resort to crime which costs us more in the long run. Its about a society accepting and taking the moral responsibilities to ensure that if someone falls over, they have the chance to get up again.

The pure capitalistic attitude is a harsh regime. If you're on the right side of the crest, you'll be riding high. Fall on the wrong side and deep despair follows. Can a society be so callous as to think that it is wrong to help one's fellow human beings? If that's the credo you live by, pray that you never find yourself out of pocket, out of a job, out of friends, and out of a home, because there's no way back from there if you do.

It should'nt be capped because theres some who never paid in or paid little like diabetics/blind/Tc's narcolespy etc as well as older folks and *someone*, everyone needs to make up the differnece. Why should the middle class bear this burden disproportionatly so when they can least "afford" it since they get hit by so many other regressive taxes from sales to excise.

This is why I've always favored a flat tax after say 50K no exclusions, no expemtions, all increase in wealth is treated as income. This is fair and flat but even my liberal friends hate it cause they like soaking the middle class wage earners too. They are all wealthy too like thier co-conspirators in congress and capital seems to get a free ride in this country.

I don't buy it. I've personally seen at least one immigrant come here from the Mideast, a Palistinian fellow, with VERY little money, start up a computer business that he now hires kids to work at. I bought my first computer from him in 1992.
