For those who don't know, Ferengi here refers to ninja bargain shoppers.
My "big" score was a Timex Weekender watch that retailed for $54.95 for $6.75 @ Kohl's, after applying:
A $10 GC they snail-mailed me
A $5 GC they e-mailed me
The 45% off of Timex Weekender watches sale they were running
The 20% off everything in the store sale they were having,
And a $10 off any Weekender watch manufacturer's coupon I had found on-line.
I also went to Office Max to look at a $200 list, Serta brand Multi-Function Office Chair supposedly being clearanced out for $30.
They had the chair, but, of course, it turned out to be a price mistake. When the sales associate told me this, I told him I wanted to speak with the manager, as I had driven there since it had said in stock at that price.
The manager was younger and hipper than most office store guyz, and he commiserated with me about the mistake and then asked if there was "some place in the middle" we could meet on the price of the chair, but I'd already sat in it and didn't even want it for $30.
He said, "Well, sorry, what can I do?" I jokingly told him he could reimburse me for my gas. He then offered me a $15 OM gift card.
He told me he'd had a number of folks who came in first thing this morning and how he'd had to disappoint them all. We kept talking about how "corporate" everywhere makes these mistakes and then leaves the front-line guys to bear the brunt of the customer's ire.
So, at the register as he was preparing my card, he suddenly said, all on his own, "I'm going to make it $20"
I told him he was my new best friend. 😀
Sometimes, it's the small victories that can brighten your day. 😛
