Ok ive been shopping at the supermarket for myself for like the past year, and budget been tight and all, ive had to change from namebrand to the supermarket imitation brand and would like to share my official comparison when comparing some of the namebrand stuff. :D

The supermarket I've usually used is Stop & Shop with their Stop&Shop brand (and sometimes Waldbaums with their America's Choice brand):

-Listerine vs Store Mouthwash
S&S is pretty damn good. Tastes slightly different (more bitter) then listerine but I can feel the burning just as well and feel just as clean afterwards.
Decision: Use S&S

-Deerpark/Poland Spring vs Acaida (S&S)
Honestly can't tell a damn difference. Mebbe if I compared it with Aquafina or something but I've always drank deer park and Poland springs and switching to Stop&shop brand water was unnoticable to me and the family.
Decision: Buy Acaida

-GLAD Paper plates/cup vs S&S
Same crap.
Decision: Use S&S

-AMO COMPLETE/Renu contact lens multi-purpose solution vs S&S multi-purpose solition.
Used Renu for a while. Switched to Complete afterwards. Tried a bottle of S&S solution. After a while, contacts didnt feel as comfortable or as soft as they used to. Enzymed and switched back to Complete but didnt feel quite the same...
Decision: Stick with Namebrand (AMO Complete) contact lens solution.

-Glad garbage bags vs S&S Garbage bags.
S&S was less strong but acceptable still.
Decision: S&S garbage bags

-Lays Potato chips/BBQ chips vs S&S Potato chips/BBQ Chips
S&S chips didnt taste as crunchy or... fresh as Lays.
Decision: Lays chips

-Crispy cheese Doodles(Forgot the brand but the blue bag) vs S&S cheese doodles.
I was pleasantly surprised that it was just as cheezy, crunchy and fresh as the name brand ones.
Decision: S&S Crunchy cheese doodles

-S&S Coke vs Pepsi
Chill. Pepsi all the way.
Decision: Pepsi

-S&S Fruit Punch vs Hawaii (SP?) Punch
Didnt feel as much texture in the S&S fruit punch...
Decision: Hawaiin(sp?) Punch

-Herbal Essence Shampoo and Conditioner vs S&S Shampoo & Conditioner
Quite honestly, I cant tell any difference between Suave, Herbal essence, Pert Plus, etc etc or S&S
Decision: S&S Herbal Essence Wannabe

-America's Choice Cooking Oil(Waldbaums) vs Namebrand Cooking Oil (forgot the brand =T)
The max temp on the store brand seems to be lower then namebrand and thus smokes more easily in high heat....
Decision: NameBrand Corn Oil

ok im done for now. :p I wonder if anyone will read this.

One thing I will NEVER test to compare if given the opportunity is Storebrand condoms vs Trojan. Chilllll. :Q

So basically the only food items you purchase are:

Potato chips
Soda
Cheesy poofs

Damn, you nailed it 100%. I'm the same way, except I don't use contact lenses.

Name brand  for you.

I'll add one more - Quaker or store-brand bagged cereals vs. name-brand boxed cereals. The bagged cereals are way cheaper and although depending on the type of cereal they may not taste 100% identical, it isn't a worse/better difference, just that it tastes a bit different.

Definitely a difference in store stuff and name brand stuff.

Soda is no-contest. Name brands all the way... (using Publix and Walmart as samples)
Aluminum Foil: Heavy Duty Name Brand > *. You can get by w/ the storebought heavy duty. Don't use the storebought regular thickness, it's like tissue paper.

LMAO. We found this out the hard way. I had brought some storebrand aluminum foil with us when we went camping one time, to place on the fire ring grill. Needless to say, the foil caught on fire..... My friend had brought some Reynold's to wrap the hamburgers, which we ended up needing to use to cook the food.

did you bother looking at the nutritional value? usually generic food used more "bad stuff" (saturated fat, etc ...) than name brands

Glad garbage bags are way better than any store brand knockoff. You'll learn this the first time you throw away something that makes the bag rip and you get coffee grounds all over the floor :)

when it comes to canned goods i normally buy store brand since the name brand normally can for the store brand anyways.
