Thank you sxr7171. I hope I do win. I really do feel that they are wrong. I would hate for this to happen to someone else. Companies should be held accountable when they don't honor their word.

While I am not arguing that you may have gotten screwed over, I will say that you may want to consider yourself lucky that you got what you did. You should definitely pursue legal action if you feel you were misled.

My wife just had our first baby (Sept 11th). Her company required that she take all of her vacation days first (15 that she has been saving for 1.5 years), then she could go on STD, which was 60% of her pay for up to 6 weeks total. Not to mention that she would also be required to pay for the family's health insurance.

So she got:

15 days (all of her vacation) - 100%
30 days - 60%

That's it.

Your employer's STD policies, even after being altered, are WAY better than what my wife is getting.

Edit: BTW, she has been there for nearly 4 years now.

We were in the same boat. We had our second child in March and my wife had to take all of her vacation time (14 days), plus maternity leave at 60% of pay for the remainder of the 6 weeks she was off. Now, as it stands, she has no sick/vacation time since she got back to work and with 2 children in daycare, they get sick often. I've been taking time off of work that I dont have and have been working from home, but I am taking advantage of my work situation and feel bad about it

Sounds like your company paid you well for time when you did not contribute to them at all (3 months), and in general, their time off policies sound pretty sweet.

Welcome to the real world.
