My electronic stapler has a status light on it

This thing has been on my desk since I moved into this office and I've never noticed this before. It's on the back so it isn't very useful at all but even on front what purpose could it serve?

It turns red when it staples which takes like half a second!! Now that I know I am burning through staples left and right just to see if I can make it miss a blink

How awesome is that!

Double penetration with every stapling.

Congratulations, you have an ADA compliant stapler. The red light lets deaf people know it's working. The light is on the back of the stapler because deaf people are apparently also retarded.

I'm amazed by the technological innovations being discussed in this thread. I've got a 25-year old, no-name stapler on my desk that barely staples anything anymore no matter how hard you bash the shit out of it.

You guys have depth-sensing, laser-guided, surround-sound, ADA-compliant staplers? WTF? Why don't I have cool office stuff like you?

My stapler's from the 30s or 40s, and It outperforms anything made today. It also works when the power goes out :^P

Edit:
Here's an ebay listing that shows my stapler in case you kids want to see what a real stapler looks like ;^)
