our ece prof who taught us verilog (also co-author of the text book we used "digital logic design" i think) was pretty laid back too. His wife called him once during lecture and he's like 'folks, NEVER ignore your wife's phone call"...so he picks up talks to her for a minute...hangs up...then 15mins later his kids call him...he looks at the caller id, and says "they are my kids, they dont get the special treatment as my wife" and ignores their call.

it was funny at the time (and the way he said it).
