I've had a couple interactions with assholes on eBay.

I didn't know you could purchase those types of services.

I'd say you let your good nature get the best of you. I wouldn't have refunded without him sending the card back. Odd's are he fried the thing himself screwing around.

Unfortunately, ebay has become less of an auction house, and more of a place for people to hawk their crap for buy it now prices that are no deal compared to buying from a legitimate website.

I can't think of the last time I bought anything from ebay.

This is why I don't deal on eBay anymore. Too easy to lose the product and money.

Not to mention the flat 10% skim on the item (unless you're a merchant) + PayPal fees. The only thing you'll do successfully selling on eBay is getting screwed. On the rare occasion I do sell on eBay, I put "no zero feedback buyers and if you win you will received nothing" in the body of the auction.

News flash: sales fees are a cost of doing business. eBay is not different than it's competitors.

This is why you don't allow buyers with 0 feedback to bid, there is a check box to prevent them from doing so. Also allways check the box that allows only domestic people to bid, fuck the rest of the world as you are more likely to get scammed by someone outside the US

I sold a Nvidia GTX 460 video card from my old computer that was perfectly functional and tested. The buyer had 0 feedback and paid instantly. The account was also using a non registered PayPal account but verified address so I was covered under "seller protection" His account was also 2 months old but I was his first purchase.

He gets the card and I hear nothing for nearly 2 weeks. I log on to find no messages requesting a refund but to see negative feedback claiming the video card did not work. I tried contacting the buyer multiple times requesting him to send me the card back, and he never responds. I have been selling on eBay for about 4 years and only about 10-12 items a year. So my 100% positive feedback was brought down to 87% and the buyer never got back to me.

I contacted eBay and I was unable to receive a final value fee as the buyer did not respond at all to my cancel transaction request. Also, I was basically forced to refund him as I feared I could get suspended from eBay after that negative feedback so I was out a Final Value Fee, Video Card and 100% feedback. Ebay also could not remove the negative feedback as well despite looking suspicious. I have always hated 0 feedback users and tried to block them from bidding on any of my auctions but am unable to per eBay rules.

I blocked the buyer from any future purchases, but he got his money back and got to keep the video card in which I believe is not broken. I believe I was scammed and there is nothing I or eBay can do about it sadly.

You should have used this site, for these reasons:

1. It was founded years before e-bay.

2. It has a far more trustworthy user base.

3. It's FREE.

4. It's run by a dedicated and knowledgeable group of volunteers who will go to the ends of the earth to insure that both parties in every transaction honestly and thoroughly fulfill their obligations.

For selling your old vid card at an honest and fair price to someone who will use and appreciate it, why would you go anywhere else?
