Ok, my left ear is really muffled. Everything I hear is faint. I've tried rinsing it with hydrogen peroxide, but it's not helped. Any other ideas? I'd rather not have to go to the doctor for something simple.

Get a toothpick, jab it into your ear and then pull it out. If you can't hear anything, that was your eardrum. If you can hear stuff now, you just got the earwax. Hope that helps!

Do you have any other problems? How long has this been going on? Any ringing? Wax? Wax Odor?

No, I'm not a doctor, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

a quick trip to the doctor may be better - they can remove the lodged wax from your ear (actually the kit they use is a syringe type device that just blasts water into your ear and it may be possible to get that from your local pharmacist)....

This "self surgery" could break your eardrum (I know - and guess how I found out :( )
You could try to wash it with hot water (as hot as your ear resist to). I had this problem once, and a doctor used a HUUUGE syringe (no needle tough) to wash my ear. The water was almost too hot, but the earwax went out in pieces.

Good luck, and DO NOT USE anything pointy!!! (if you do, the eardrum will heal itself in a couple of weeks)

It's not bloody, just an orange color. Earwax that makes it to the outside is usually more yellow and flaky, but inside it is as you see in the pic.

Also, the Dr. told me to never use Q-Tips or anything else like that. It simply compacts the wax farther into your ear canal.

If a chunk like that came out of your ear wouldn't you want to document it? My wife said she almost passed out when she saw it.

No ringing. A little bit of wax every now and then when I clean the outside with a q-tip. It's been bugging me since yesterday afternoon.

I tried flushing it with some hydrogen peroxide. That helped some, but it still doesn't feel right.

Used one of those with warm water too.
