My E4300 on a 965P-DS3 won't hold an overclock

I've had my E4300 running smooth as silk at 3.3 ghz but decided to drop it back down to 3.0 ghz and lower my vcore in order to run a cooler system. It's not like I really needed the extra 300 mhz considering my video card isn't top of the line. Anywho...I put the bus back to 333 mhz and saved the settings. I reboot and bam, back at 1.8ghz. I tried a different bus speed...bam, back to 1.8ghz. It's also weird because I'll F10 and save in BIOS and my computer will try to restart, but it won't. My X1800XL fan will run and run and run and the screen will remain black. Sometimes my system will try to boot, then restart and try to boot again, but never make it to the boot device screen.

So, has anyone experience anything like this before? If you could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks.

Curious, have you tried 334 FSB, 335...anything besides exactly 333 ? Could be a FSB hole.

Also, what PSU do you have? (also give us the 12v rail combined total Amps) along with what else you have running in your system not indicated in your sig (# of HDDs, opticals, etc.)

This board is a joke. Maybe it doesn't like my crucial ballistix ram, but I found other rams cannot hold the oc either. Big mistake to try Gigabyte, dump this garbage and turn back to P5K now.
