My E2140 (L2 stepping) crapped out on me at 2.9 GHZ

I was able to hit 3.0GHZ but ORTHOS was still crashing my system at 1.5 vcore and I was hitting some high temps.

It seems to be pretty stable right now, but is there anything I should worry about performance wise?

I'm only concerned with gaming atm, and would this chip carry me through an 8800GTS 640 and possibly SLI in the future without bottlenecking my games at 1280x1024 resolutions and above?

I'm running ram unlinked full speed this entire time. So Ram cannot possibly be the issue.

You are going to get conflicting opinions on your question.

My opinion is that I wouldn't worry if it will push the 8800GTS SLI to its knees. If it doesn't, it just means you can enable insane AA and AF along with TSAA. I think the CPU will be fine for another 1-2 years. Besides, the beauty if your setup is that you can simply plop in a QC later on if performance gets slow and you will have a significant upgrade.

Well,my 4300 was maxed at the same speed, these low end chips seems to max there. (IMO)
