Just got home and met the Fedex guy (yay! I was going to set it for pickup tomorrow) and he had a gift for me.

My cable modem had started to reboot during heavy downloads (after 5+ years of service) and I decided to pay $5 extra for Cablevision's "Boost Plus."

I get this for ~$50 a month.

Now I can nef here faster than ever.

It's only $5 additional for Boost plus?

Damn, sign me up!

EDIT: site says $15 more :(

Doesn't this "boost" just make it impossible to guess your actual throughput? Doesn't it just fool you by giving you good speed test results?

Would it not confuse the hell out of video buffering algorithms that choose a bit rate (quality) based on your initial speed?

One other thing confuses me: How does FedEx deliver the "SpeedBoost" feature?

Wait, 52Mb's? You can get faster transfer than that with mid range 4G in most of Europe today and that is MOBILE, anything less than 150Mb's is too slow to be charged for in most of Europe.

I am sustaining 4900k/s on my usenet downloads solid for the past hour. It's not like Time Warner's system where you get a burst of speed for 10 seconds. It's an actual 50/8mbit tier.

I love Cablevision/Optimum. They have to be the best provider in the country.

Yeah, but then you'd have to live in Europe. I'd go back to dial-up before I moved to that toilet of a country.

Unlimited transfer/bandwidth or do they impose caps?

Yes, Europe is a country... No, no matter what, i will not believe that was on purpose, you have demonstrated your lack of geographical knowledge plenty of times before.

Actually I just checked my download speed it's gone up to 6035KB/s.:biggrin::biggrin:

Wow, that's a horribly low download speed.

about 100x that would be acceptable, at least you don't have to pay for that lousy download speed, right?

For 150Mb's down and 90Mb's up i'd pay almost tens of dollars at home, not really tens but close to it, per month.

Holy crap. What are you speeds like? lol
FWIW, I can upgrade to 100/50 for $99/month, but I don't think I really need that much speed.
