My e-Machine DVD-ROM has problems - driver issue?

I'm currently typing to you guys from my old e-machine desktop with WinXP. Problem is this desktop was originally Win98 and ever since the upgrade, my DVD-ROM has problems. I have the e-machine Monster 500a with a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-608. I used to be able to at least get it to read CD-ROMs now it can't read anything. I was wondering if this might be a driver issue, if so. Where can I find a driver to make it work again to even read DVD-ROMs just like back in the good ol days?

There aren't really drivers to update. You could check on updating your chipset drivers, but that probably won't do much. It's far more likely that your drive is dirty or failing due to age. Spend the $20 for a new one, or get a can of air and try to blow it out.
