My DVD writer didn't come with SATA power or SATA data cable - normal?

I got it on the cheap for sure, but is it normal for them not to come with these cables they need? My SSD came with them. If its normal, I'll just order them. Are they all pretty generic?

Thanks!

Most of the (OEM, whitebox, or bulk-packed) ones I've purchased didn't include those.

But I'm not typically buying retail-packaged optical drives either. Then again, the retail-packed SSDs I've bought didn't include cables either - I usually end up relying on the cables that come with the motherboard.

Google found me a reasonably detailed explanation of bulk packaging vs. retail packaging - it's not computer parts but it basically explains the difference:

Yeah, not coming with a data cable certainly isn't unusual, anyway.

But about a power cord. If you don't have a modular PSU (which you'd almost certainly have only if you you put the computer together yourself) and there isn't a "spare"/unused SATA power connector floating around inside the case, you're going to need a splitter, to piggyback off one of the existing SATA power connectors, not just a "cord.".
