So that would be her problem... you paid. Check with your bank. Did she cash it?
 
tell her since YOU made payment you will have to wait 2 weeks to make sure the check has NOT been cashed. Then you can give her another. That way she will not lose them so easily
 
Are you able to direct deposit money into their bank account? You can avoid this altogether and just show her your statement/receipt and slam the door on her face.

Good lord, your landlady is human and humans sometimes lose things,just tell her you'll write her a new check minus the stop payment fee's your bank will charge you for the other check.
