Well - i've wanted to go dual xeons for a long time, finally I came across a deal I couldnt pass up, and I'm now the proud father; erm owner of a dual xeon rig.

Here are my system Specs:

2 x 512MB OCZ EL PC3700 DDR (2.5 3 3 7) In dual channel
2 x 1.6LV C1 Xeons (Running @ 2.64Ghz now)
2 x Coolermaster 2U Passive copper Heat syncs http://www.orbitmicro.com/products/accessories/cpu%20fans/E2U-NPLCS-02.htm
Asus PC-DL with U-Wire mod (only 1.5v now)
XFX 6600 256MB AGP card (this stock fan has got to go!)
Pioneer A07 DVD Burner

Stock Antec "Tri-Cool" Fans all set to "high"

NOTES:

I do want to replace the hsf on my 6600 - any reccomendations? Do they make models that fit the 6600 AND higher models such as 6800gt oc?

Bring on the criticism. This is my first attempt at actually keeping the cables organized, ive done it in the past but its never worked out quite this good. I'm very happy so far with the system. I would have preferred to run the main atx cable under the mobo - but it was not long enough. not sure if i want to mess with an extension, as I dont think the connector will fit beneath the motherboard.

*puts on my flak jacket* Bring on the comments!

sorry for the links tas - thought i had fixed them, but must've forgotten when i went to grab some food.

Fixed now 🙂

Thanks JBDan - the 2005FPW's are amazing. I dont think i can ever go back to single monitors...the 2405 MAY be an exception, but i doubt it.

Has anyone been able to use a 6600 with an NV 5 rev 2 silencer? It looks like the card may have a different layout between the 6600's and 6800's 🙁

I'm looking to pick up a pair of LVs, but I'm hearing the C1s don't OC nearly as well as the D1s, with the D1s your almost guaranteed 3.2 ghz. What's your max OC so far with those C1s?

Edited for my lack of reading comprehension.

just depends - These C1's should be capable of 3Ghz. Yeah sure the D1's will guarantee you more, techically speaking. But ask if its really worth the premium for another 200-400mhz. I got an awesome deal on the xeons/board/hs's so i bit, was tired of my old noisy pc and wanted to just build it out all at once.

I definitely reccomend them though, so far i've been quite happy - just be careful with the coolers you do end up getting, almost all of them are VERY noisy for the xeons.

Why do you have the power supply upside down? It seems that wouldn't be as effective for getting rid of the heat. Have you added a front intake fan, if you do you might be able to turn down some of those screamign tri-cools.

I believe the Zalman will fit on your video card and it workd great.

Nice Rig.

Where did you people all purchase your P180 anyways? Just curious. I thought I saw some for around $100 somewhere, but I cant figure out where that was. For, I am in the middle of possibly having to upgrade. If my bfg 6800 ultra doesnt fit in my antec 1080amg case, Ill need a new case. : /

I ordered from securemart for $96+shipping (~123 shipped) The price went up the day i was deciding on a case, oh well, only a few bucks more. The P180 is awesome and I love it 🙂

Quantum - I dont know what you mean by screaming tri-cools - but they're only running at about 5-6v, pretty much as slow as they go. The power supply is turned upside down because it gives me a little extra room on my main intake cables. the heat goes out of the back of the case anyways, I dont see how it could be much less effective then having it suck air in and blow it up - rather then blow air down. I do have a front fan, running also at about 7v. i think my plan is to order some nexus fans, see where that gets me. I'm also going to order http://store.yahoo.com/directron/br123.html to try and mount a 120mm next to my xeon's HS's to try to get some extra cooling out of those. i'm approaching 60c at load and that bothers me 🙂

As far as the zalman goes - i think i want to either go completely passive or with the AC NV silencer 5 rev2 - which wont fit on my card. So an upgrade may be on its way. The idea of venting hot air fromt he gpu out the back is great, and i'd rally take advantage of that since the extra heat from my gpu isnt helping my cpu temps i'm sure.
