My DSL Modem becomes a router. when it is not sopose to.

haha My Westell modem, serviced by Verizon can hook you up with usb and ethernet used at the same time. Anybody experiencing that? Saved my self a couple of bucks for a router. hehe

If you have a LAN and not two computers set to two Independent External IPs, it is probably a Modem/Router combo.

Which means that you probably saved a couple of bucks on a Switch and sooner or later you would not like this arrangment.

When you had it with this setting, make the Modem/Router combo work as a Modem only, and buy yourself a nice "real" Router.

I do not think so. It is not a combo. Doesn't say so. Verizon doesn't say so. I'm glad I saved my self some money but I want to know how can this happen?

Would you please connect both the X-Box and the computer, and post what is the IP that is assingned to each?

TIA.

Not really, listen to JackMDS. It is probably not acting as a firewall and you may end up being charged more monthly for two IPs.

er? never charged for two ips always 35 dollars. It acts as a router cause when I play a game with xbl on the ping is a bit high.

JackMDS or anybody how do I check ip on xbox? I'll give it a try thanks.

Verizon never charged me double I had dsl since June 2003. I can't check it, it optains ip auto. I shud tell my neighbor friend to come down with his laptop.
