Well, over memorial day weekend, I had three beers and I was hammered, and by 3 beers I mean 3, 22oz 12% abv beers. So I end up jumping in a lake, first taking off my glasses, my watch (waterproof), and shirt. I completely forgot about my cell phone, a T-mobile Dash (windows mobile phone)

So after about 10 minutes, I finally get out of the water, and realize that I had my phone in my pocket the whole time.

To make this a valid topic, I just want to say bravo to the people at HTC for creating such a solid phone, after letting this sucker dry out for about a week it still works perfectly.

I did something similar recently with my car keys. Jumped into the spa with my alarm fob in my pocket. I let it dry out and it kind of worked but there was a lot of rust. I tried it the next day and it didn't work. Luckily I have a spare, but if that one dies I'm screwed.

at least you were drunk...

i once went wading into a creek for a lost disc golf disc...

yeah, my dumb ass forgot to take out my wallet, cigs, cell phone....

the cigs were goners, of course, i actually was able to revive the phone.

it was some piece of shit nokia candy-bar, but still. i dried it out a few days and it came back to life, i was shocked, since it was on when it got wet.

If you ever need it warrantied though, you'll be out of luck.

The water certainly caused the little test spot to turn red/pink and they will not do anything for you.

I did that yesterday morning. I didn't have pockets so I put the phone under the elastic band on my gym shorts. I go to stand up and whoops out it slides. Bounces once on the payment, then I hear "bloop", into the lake it goes.

After looking at it for a sec and processing wtf just happened, I reach in and pull it out. Surprisingly it was still on! Promptly turn it off and set it in the sun to dry. Two hours later come back and the is dry and fully functional! YAY!

One was a 12oz dogfish head, the others where 22oz aged in a whiskey cask.

It was on when I jumped in, it was off when I got out.

Consider yourself extremely lucky then. It's possible for electronic equipment to survive submersion in water but when power is running through them the likelihood of it surviving is greatly reduced. Even if your phone is working now it could still fail prematurely.

Damn. Those three beers were about equal to a whole 12 pack of Busch or something like that. :Q :D

Haha, that sucks. I was absolutely livid when my KRZR went for a swim in the dog's water dish. The screens were completely white when I fished it out and the power button didn't work. I immediately rinsed it in RO water, took it apart and let it air-dry for about 6 hours. This was about a year ago, and it's still going strong.

I could see water in the screen really bad, I could tilt the phone and watch it move like mercury.

What a P.O.S. :p

For sure! I wish I had some kind of "accident" with my Dash so I would have a good excuse to buy a new phone.
