I wanted to play some old school Soul Calilbur and Tony Hawk 2 on my dreamcast. So i popped in TH2, had it on pause for about 5 minutes, went to go back to play it and it froze. Rebooted and it will not read any discs...I guess i gotta go out and find one for about $30 lol

Why did I sell mine? :( I wish I still had it, it was fun. :) Sega was brilliant with that machine, both the hardware and the software titles they released. They release games like that now still, but exactly like that. That way feels old now. I mean, playing the original titles on the Dreamcast where a lot of them were invented... it was pure fun and still is now for those games, but now its repetitive with all the new titles. Sega needs to get past its roots and become just as evolutionary as they were in that day. They made a huge leap then, but now are really just walking in circles on the 3rd floor. They need to move up again, make some bloody brilliant titles. :)

i have learned to never sell old consoles again. I have nothing to show for my older gaming days, nothing past a PS2 in any now. :( I keep everything now, no selling of games or anything either... I want things for nostalgia. Also in case gaming ever has a boring year with no stellar releases. ;)

I had two in my FS thread, and I sold one. I'm seriously thinking of keeping the other one since it has some great games and plays backups without needing any modifications.

I love my Dreamcast. It's my favorite system of all time. It's still hooked up too. Looks really good on my HDTV with VGA box.

It was way ahead of its time. Online play. Broadband connections. The memory cards were such a great idea too.

 Dreamcast

RIP Trader05's Dreamcast.

This thread reminds me I should grab my Dreamcast from my parents' house when I go home next.

Still have my Dreamcast. I still have some VMUs still sealed. You guys think these are worth something?

I sorely miss my Dreamcast. It was ahead of its time, and fell under the might of the Sony marketing juggernaut.

I remember playing NFL 2K for the first time and immediately trying to decide how many days I should take off work over the next few weeks to devote solely to playing it.

I was never even really a Sega fan (had a Game Gear that was not worth the money), but there was something about the Dreamcast. I bought one at launch and I really enjoyed it. In fact, I'm trying to think what I did with it. Seems like I gave it to my brother who ended up pawning it.

Personally I hated the memory cards. They were ahead of their time (too big, not that much storage for the mini games, poor battery life, etc), but in this case it was a major hindrance where the idea was beyond the technology. Oddly enough, even though I hate goofy peripherals and the like now, I kinda thought it was good back with the Dreamcast. I loved House of the Dead 2, even though we only had one crappy light gun (since Sega wouldn't sell their official one stateside). Also, that was back when I absolutely hated fighting games, but even then I could tell that Soul Calibur was very good. Ah, good times.

Oh, Yea! Dreamcast, I still have the T-shirt that came with my system. The fond day of playing Phantasy Star Online. I loved that game. Was my first MMORPG addiction. First console to have online and a keyboard. Too bad they didnt take it further.

Seems like most people didn't/don't like the DC controllers.

I find them quite comfortable and have always liked them, but switching from UT, Q3A, etc. on the DC to Halo 3, COD, etc. on the Xbox 360 really sucks. I go from using the left (and only) analogue on the DC for looking & the buttons on the right for moving/strafing to 2x analogues on the 360 AND they're flipped over.

Basically, what I'm saying is... my younger brother owns me at Halo 3. :p

My DC kept me occupied during my senior year of college. Great system. I hated the controller, though. Hurt my hands after a while. Wish I knew where it was. I gave it to my brother when I bought my xbox. He hasn't seen it in years.
