My dog's been limping since last night, what do I do?

It started last night and he's been walking with a limp ever since. I thought maybe he tore or sprain something, so I didn't pay too muc attention. I did restricted him to limited movement...no jumping or running. It's both funny and sad to see him limping. Can I give him some asprin? What else can I do? He's going to the vet tomorrow.

Thx!

What would you do with yourself if you had been limping since last night and you didn't know why?

What? Yes? Take yourself to the doctor?

What a concept... 😛

Yes, yes, as you can see from my post, he's going to the vet tomorrow. But what can I do to ease his pain now? give him asprin...it's not toxic to him is it?

NO! DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG HUMAN MEDICINE. Especially if you do not know what its effects on dogs are.

That said, the guidline for aspirin is between 5 and 15mg/lb for dogs.

Google is your friend.

Do not give the dog aspirin unless you know the correct dosage.

Taken from http://www.vetinfo.com/daspirin.html#Aspirin%20Dosage.
use 10mg/lb. of body weight twice a day for aspirin. Enteric coated aspirin is not recommended in dogs because about half the time the coating isn't digested and the aspirin is excreted whole in the stool.

Regardless, I would caution you NOT to give your dog human medicine without first consulting your vet.

Ya, I found that info on petsmart.com as well. I grounded the asprin into power and put it in his food. Hope this eases his pain.

Go rent a movie and get drunk

After reading that spliff ladened reply to a thread earlier combined with this mindless dither, you better pray someone dont rat you out for being outta your playpen. Otherwise the Missus is liable to get a call and your ass is toast.😉

My dog went outside to the bathroom and came back limping badly... turned out she tore her ACL when she was chasing a rabbit. She could barely walk. We do giver her aspirin everyday (vet said so) but we give her Aspirin for babies. So it is defintley not the adult strength.

Hope your dog is okay.
