got skunked again (third time) and immediately comes running in the house to rub it off on the carpets. Didn't get any sleep last night. Might have to burn the house down.

Ouch that sucks. I'm glad we don't seem to have too many skunks in our neighborhood

I thought dogs learn the first time they get sprayed not to mess with skunks?

Smart looking dog think he would've learned the first two times lol. Hopefully you don't have any porcupines in the neighborhood.

Shiba Inus have an insane prey drive, which is their downfall regarding skunks.
No porcupines thankfully.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that.

That is a horrible smell. I have a tom cat that is not letting anyone or anything in his backyard and had been skunked in the past. I have tried over the counter remedy's, and the standby tomato juice, but I don't think anything actually helped much with the smell.

That's a handsome dog, OP.

That said, it would have taken everything in me to not beat him senseless for skunking the house (though it was no fault of his own).

I think the recommended remedy includes hydrogen peroxide. So maybe Oxi-Clean on a carpet?
