Well, yesturday I took my PC apart because i had to new dvd burners and my case is a desktop case so it is impossible to install w/o taking everything apart. I put my 2 7800GT's on a table and left the room for a couple minutes. I come back and my 7800GT's are on the floor. It apears that my small dog jumped on the table and accidently knocked them off. Now I had SLI but didn't have any games yet to use SLI. I only play FFXI. Now that both cards are distroyed, i'm wondering if i should replace them w/ 2 new 7800GT's or just get one. I ask because although i play ffxi, i may get a xbox 360 for gaming from now on as it appears all the games i like now at days are on consoles. What should i do?

I would try and fix the cards. No harm in trying if you are just going to throw them out.

Otherwise a single GT works great on all games and is more than enough for FF.

Black Pug and he is only 5 months old...

It seems i'm limited in what video cards i can get w/ this desktop case. Its a Lian Li 880 desktop case and i got an aerocool power supply which sits right in front of the motherboard. So i only have about 10 inch's for the video card and that includes the power cable.

btw... whats ftw?

So, whats the harm in trying them out, see if they work, ya know? Maby nothings wrong with the cards?

And a single Gt will be plenty for now.

Don't be surprised if they are longer... :-S Already looked at pics of the X1900? It's really huge... It will probably be more than 10 inches long... Anyone knows the exact length of the PCIe 16x connector so we can measure it?

BTW Sorry to hear your cards are broken... :( Must not really be a pleasant feeling... I'll keep my dog out the next time I open one of my comps... ;)

He mentions "a few parts on the 7800s are either loose or bent", so I think they will probably be broken... He will have tried them out already eh... About the warranty, maybe he's lucky yeah...

Dunno mate... He will have tested 'em eh!!! If they don't work... I mean, a 2.5 foot fall down could be deadly for those cards...

Sorry about the thinking, have an exam tomorrow... ;)
