So I've got my dog here with me at work tonight, and I take him outside so he can poop, and there's a small bird hanging out on a windowsill nearby. After he finishes answering the call of duty, he runs over and startles the bird, which takes flight and almost immediately slams into a nearby window (we're between two buildings, at this point). He runs over, finds the bird laying stunned on the ground (but unhurt), and grabs the little thing in his mouth and proceeds to beat the living crap out of it..

I just cleaned him off, his mouth was a bloody mess, and there's blood all over his fur..

my dog

I realize he's genetically programmed to do it, but still... I feel kinda weird about it.

He's tasted blood now. I would not let him sleep in the same room with you. :Q

A cat would do that. Cats eat birds. I like birds. I enjoy watching them in their natural surroundings. I have my bb gun to deal with any predators.

I hope you're a vegetarian or wouldn't mind getting shot on behalf of a cow.

When my dog was young he caught a bird in mid-air once. Also chased down rabbits. He's also fought a snake and a possum that we know of :) He didn't mean to kill the bird or rabbits... we used to scream like crazy.

Your dog is a cute one!

My dog, cocker spaniel, is always on the haunt but it never caught anything. It haunts for any insects, birds and barks at cats. I never let him come close to cats. I know these animals can poke his eyes out.

My patio looks like a lizard graveyard (Tampa FL), we have 5 cats, and they are constantly bringing goodies home. Lest night, they brought in a tiny turle.. I rescued him and put him in the woods. On occasion we have gotten beirds, suirrels, etc, some disembowled.. (yech)

My dog is crazy. He's killed three skunks. They don't know that he doesn't care if he gets sprayed. Skunks are usually pretty fearless because they know they can spray attackers but they don't find out my dog's immune until it's too late.

Is it cicada season already? I thought those nasty things came very 17+ or so years. I remember the cicada season one summer when I was in elementary school long time ago....They were all over the place and pretty disgusting. Thats assuming your in the United States.

Depends on where you live. They will be coming to my area next spring. Here is a chart showing the cycles.
