My dog is an escape artist

He's dug out under fencing, he's squeezed himself through chicken wire openings. He had been getting otu again, recently, and I could find no evidence of his escape -- so I set up a camera to figure it out.

Guess I underestimated his ability to climb. And the fencing I chose is PERFECT for climbing, look how he puts his feet through the holes and makes his way upwards. Dog is much smarter than I.

Too bad he didn't piss on your camera 🙂

I was kind of expecting a taller fence though. Most dogs could have easily jumped that fence.

LOL! You have that shitty little piece of crap fence and you're wondering how the fuck he gets out and actually need to setup a CAMERA to figure it out?

ROFL.

Not to bring a downer to this thread, but seeing the video made me cringe. I heard stories of dogs climbing over fences like that and getting their collar stuck at the top causing them to hang. Maybe you should cover the top of the fence?

Had one of those and finally after trying everything else I could think of to stop him from escaping I bought an invisible fence setup and ran the wire through the chain link fence. He never escaped once while the fence was working but would figure out pretty quick if the wire had a break in it or the battery in his collar died.

😱

my dog climbs over baby gates when locked away. i thought he'd been jumping over them (he could clear them if he wanted) but watched him do it one day.

i had a shih tzu that once magically escaped from the yard. i have no idea how as there were no holes on the side of the fence that he must have escaped from (was in the back neighbor's yard).

Lol, my late Great Dane Bogie could jump over a four foot horse fence from a standing start (no run up) with amazing grace and ease, like a horse going over a hurdle (only they get to do it on the run), with perfect form and room to spare, tucking his fore and hind legs in consecutively during the arc of his jump.

To prove it, I locked him in a paddock, stood outside and called him, and watched him do it. Amazing is the only true word for it, but beautiful is another. Wish I'd had a vid cam with me.

My house came with a cheap plastic fence (sort of like this) that my dog figured out she could just smash through. She was able to squeeze through where the fence meets the neighbor's fence but I blocked that off so she just broke one of the vertical portions which gave her lots of room to get through. I need to upgrade the fence to something metal.
