My dog has something on his gums

His gum is swollen on the bottom near the front. It looks like a piece of gum or hot dog. He threw up yesterday and later we found it. It is just in one spot and the rest of his mouth looks fine. Could it be an ulcer of some sort??? No pics yet.

Definitely the vet. I wouldn't try and diagnose this yourself unless it's easily removable like a hot dog.

i concurr (SP?) hit up the vet... unless you are a cheapskate and dont mind taking the chance of getting bitten-> if so, then carefully push on the swollen spot. If the dog yelps or acts like it hurts, then its infected. If not, then try to manuever whatevers stuck up there out by pushing from the top of the tooth to the bottom... i've done it to our old dog. She used to get woodchuck fur in her teeth. That was the best way to get it out. Cookie didnt seem to mind, but your dog might. Worth a shot if you dont wanna pay the vet.

Thats what I was thinking also. My dog wouldnt bite me but I dont want to create an emergency situation. He has cost me almost $2K in the last two months. Also has a bum leg. Limps everyday and is not getting better with meds. Thanks for the advice.
