My does my modem connect so SLOW

I bought a ELSA Microlink 56K PCI modem a couple months ago.
When I connect to the internet, it rarely connects quicker than 2 minutes. I have a ELSA external 56K modem on my other computer, and it connects in under 30 seconds.

Is there any settings I could change to speed things up?

Any suggestions at all?

Thanks in advance.

Give this a try. Click on my computer--right click on the bug for your dialup--select properties and make sure that you do not have "connect to remote computer checked" if it is it will slow the connection time down a bunch.

I think there is an option called "Log onto network" or sth like that in the connection properties. I forgot the name and cannot check it up for you because I am using ADSL now. But give that setting a go. Try enable/disable it to see the difference.

Could be either a poor quality phone line or you might have another devide connected which is interfering with your modem.
