My DNS stop working in Firefox/IE until I run an nslookup?

The DNS in firefox/ie stops working randomly for me sometimes. When it happens I just run an nslookup(I usually just do google or digg) and then it works fine again. If I don't run the nslookup it will take quite a while to start working again. Anybody know what might be going on here?

May be you want to be kind enough and describe what type of connection you have and how it is configured.
