Can you fill those of us in that don't know what you are talking about :)! Sounds good, either way! Congrats!

Now, just get it done within a reasonable amount of time. Good luck!

I've got to come up with some sort of idea for my master's thesis in the near future. :(

Before you can conduct research for a dissertation you have to convince 5 professors that 1) you know what you are talking about and 2) you can do the research (i.e., you can actually get the data/do the analysis). I turned in my proposal last week.... Today, I presented the proposal to the committee so that they can ask me hard questions and make me feel like a dumb ass.

Looking at how public school use data as feedback to improve student learning. Drawing from systems theory, business management, educational research... What I found out today was that I need to review more lit, but they still gave me the go ahead.

Dissertation...for a doctorate then, yes? What field...education?

Good work, man. I'll hopefully be in that same position come six years or so. Be ready for a PM right around that time. Heh.

And on knee pads? :D :p j/k

Good luck with it!

How long are you given to do it? Don't know the American way of this sort of thing also. Is this for a Masters? Well for a PhD in England you pick one you like and apply for it. If you get picked out of the applicants you do the PhD. Here for Masters you decide on your own dissertation and get to do it.

My gf is doing a PhD she was given 3years to do her research and such. After that she has 6months to write it up.
