I have a DIR 655 rev B1 and I have firmware 2.10 on it (will try 2.11 soon). I have a lot of disconnection recently and my PC is directly connected to it via a RJ45 cable. It is very annoying.

Is it dying?

Should I buy another one?

1. Try to connected directly to the Modem to rule out Modem or connection issues.

2. What else is Networked to your Router?

You might try a new power adapter.

I recently had a 615 die on me, or so I thought. A little research and I found out a common problem was the power adapter failing. As it happened, I had an old Roku box that was using the type of adapter so I plugged it in to the 615...it has been working ever since.

I've run into the exact same situation with several other routers. It seems like the power bricks "go" before the router proper does.

I have one laptop and two phones using the wireless connection. And a PS3 once every 6 months or so (or never )

I moved to my house like 3 months ago and I have the same internet provider (videotron) but I called them and they confirmed that there was a intermittent problem on the network in the area. I saw a lot of their trucks moving around in the neighberhood and many employees working on it since I called like 5 times.

It's a intermittent issue so it is hard to pinpoint if it's the router or the network. But yesterday after having some issues, I tried to connect directly to the modem again and I experienced zero issue so I wonder if my router is also dying.

It is not a power issue in my opinion but will try it anyway, thanks for mentionning. ;)
