Hello,

i have a BT home hub wireless router and a buffalo WLI-U2-KG54 wireless USB Stick.

quite frequently (once a day, sometimes 2 or 3 times) my computer loses its wireless connectivity, and i get the following bubble message

"
Wireless network Connection 3

This connection has limited or no connectivity. you might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. for more information, click this message
"

i click on the bubble, and it says the following

"Limited or no connectivity You might be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer."

I clicked on repair the connection but got the following message

"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed. Clearing the DNS cache. For assistance, contact the person who manages your network.

but it connected me despite the message.

can you guys tell me why is my computer getting disconnected from the home network frequently

it seems that my USB adaptor loses some sort of verification and it ogoes into verifying mode.

my network encryption is WPA-PSK (TKIP)

my connection went down again :(, and this time the repair option did not work.

i restarted my machine and it works again (the restart always works)

i have zone alarm installed on my machine, if that is any help :(

If your USB stick is stuck in the back of the case, buy a USB extention cord and stick it above the system.

thanks for the reply,

the USB stick is connected using a USB cord and is above the system,

the connection has gone bad agai, this time i was getting really bad speeds and all of a sudden it just went out.

could it be a trojan in my system, which is causing the router to kick my machine of the network?

or if it is the length of the cord, which enables the USB stick just to popup. the cord is this "heavy duty" looking one. can i just use a normal cor for the USB stick?

thanks for the links dude,

i have attached the usb antenna to the front of my machine. if it does not fail it is probably obstructions in the middle or a dodgy USB port.

if it does fail, then i will clean up my machine and see if that helps

else will go for the pci card with nice omni antenna
