Once in a while, about once every 5 minutes, the harddrive or something seems to be clicking or making a reading.. type of sound. It's been a week since I got this laptop. Am I being paranoid? Anyone else experiencing something similar with their laptops?

It's normal, they power down the hard drive after a specified time. It will do this forever, and I don't know of a way to turn that feature off.

Pull the hard drive out and see if its a Hitachi 10, 20 or 30GB Drive. If it is, there's a firmware patch to fix this clicking problem. It's due to the head's reseting themselves too often and making a click noise. If you don't have this drive, call dell ASAP and start making backups of anything on there.

You can get the firmware update here
