Well, $30 isn;t a concrete max price, hes just doesn't want something too fancy that costs too much....he just wants something that can handle the game. A limit would be something Well under $100 though...sorry if Im making this hard for you guys...

EDIT:well, hes now saying he doesn't want to spend more than $50

Well, I said first if there was one for around $30, and thne I said he will not spend over $100....I showed him that $85 dollar one, and he said he wouldn't like to pay that much, but Yes, $50 is he budget according to him. Is this possible?

Also, would the vid card ultra mag said work? Does it support Direct X9?

Does this tell anything? Also, ultramag gave a list of some vid cards, are there any that cost around $30?
It seems disproportionate to have a $180 CPU and a $30 GPU, although even a $30 card will still be a nice improvement. Couldn't he swing a used Radeon 9700-9800 series card? :(

Unfortunately, hes sticking to a tight spending limit...hes not all that big into computers, and normally just uses it for internet browsing, so he doesn't need an ything too fancy....alll he needs is osmething that will work for that game. He doesn't need something more than that. But THanks you guys for helping, I know this is hard with such a tight budget! But Thanks!

have him get the ps2 so he can stop bugging us. ps2 doesnt need any particular upgrading for any games that it has and will come in the future.

Yeah, hes probably better off getting the PS2 game. He won't have to go through the hassle of installing all kinds of new parts, which would be a HUGE hassle for Him. But Thanks again guys...I have already built my own computer, and I hope to have a future in computers, and this is yet another thing I have learned a little bit about, So thanks!

^Maybe that for under $50, bear in mind it's a refurb, and it has nothing but a bare card(dl drivers first, as there is no cd with it)
Or the retail version, for a few $'s more
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121511
Or a barebone oem 9600 pro refurb

My guess is that a 9550 is kinda like a 9600se.
I don't think framerates should be less than 30 or maybe 20fps to be "playable".

I don't know how much of a taboo it is to link THG material here, but you should take a peek at these benchmark numbers:

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20041004/vga_charts-10.html
(they're from last year, but still somewhat relevant in this case)

As for your choice, if you must go with retail, he could probably get by with a 9550/9600, though as some have already said, a used GeForce Ti would probably get you the best bang for your buck
