Just something that'll perform tests on the monitor to help me see how many defective pixels there.

Thank you. :)

I seem to have read about a program that automatically counts the faulty pixels for the user, did I just imagine it? :p

Yea there are programs that show entire screens of colors, but why would you want to know that you have dead pixels when there is nothing you can do about it? You eventually spot them in daily use.

That's true, you're right. I won't obsess about small defects that are formed as a result of the manufacturing process.

I've never owned an LCD, so I was just getting paranoid.

Sorry kinda OT, but when did you order your monitor and what does it say on Dell's website for the status of your order? I ordered a 2005fpw on Sunday and it has said "in transit to local carrier" since monday morning. I'm trying to get an idea of how long this will take.

I ordered it from eBay. Very nice seller, he's called every day long distance to inform me of status updates.

I asked him to use FEDEX ground, only 60 bucks, and I don't need the monitor until I get the new PC anyway. So FEDEX told him to make an account online for ground internation shipping, so it's been delayed due to that, it should be here in 2 weeks cause of the weekends.
