My ddr3500 runs at 266mhz WTF?

I just built a PC with a Chaintech 9CJS P4 Motherboard that supports dual channel memory at 400mhz.

I have to 512mb sticks of Kingston hyperX CL2 DDR 3500 single channel memory. I installed the ram in slots 0 and 1 which is the set of slots on the left side each a black and blue dimm slot. There are two more slots like these labeled 2, 3. One question is there a better choice of slots to use.

When I boot the pc the bios displays that the memory is running at 266mhz on the display. I entered setup to see if I could manually set it to run 400mhz. The only two choices were Default which is where its set and a choice for 266mhz. Any suggestions.

For dual channel you'll need them in the same color slots.

If it's a 533bus P4 then 266 sounds correct.

bios show 266mhz. Anyway I see my mem speed is limited to the processors FSB. So I will guess I need a processor with an 800fsb to run my memory at DDR400 speeds.

YES. You should have looked into this before buying DDR433. You could have saved yourself some money by getting some good PC2100 RAM.

Well I had this ram long ago before the rest of the system was even purchased. I used to have this ram running on an amd system awhile back, but I don't have it anymore. This is an old processor I had laying around, so I'll just get a better one with 800mhz front side bus then overclock it and the memory.
