my daughter's kindergarten class voted today

FoBoT

No Lifer
18 Bush
2 Kerry

not too surprising for the demographics we live in

if kansas city was annexed into kansas and st louis was annexed into illinois , missouri would be 95% conservative , the only "democrats" left would be union guys that work at the auto plants

I'm not saying anything one way or the other, but it has been my experience that small children, who are obviously very ignorant of politics in general, almost always favor the incumbent over the competitor. It's what they're used to, and, having no clue about the complexities of power and politics, are happy with how things are being run as almost nothing effects them.

p.s. i don't think they should do this in elementary school

it is one thing to teach them how the election works in terms of how people vote , how the votes are counted etc, but asking them to actually vote isn't really teaching them anything

i remember doing the same thing in 1972 , Nixon or McGovern
i was 6 years old and i voted for Nixon 😛

It's kind of fun, but children are totally at the whim of their parents when it comes to politics, and their opinions are worse than meaningless. Hell, the same can be said of many adults. "Ma pappa done always voted for Republicans, and I is going to also!", for example.

Been talking to your neighbors down there in alabama, huh? 😛

I'm glad they're not voting, too.

Nate

Back in '92 in our elementary school, every class voted Perot except for kindergarten or 1st grade (I don't remember which) who voted Bush.

That's pretty much how it was for me. Democrats good, Republicans bad. Then I actually got a clue and realized they're all worthless SOBs that I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.
