Just kids my ass... without an amazing bit of self restraint I might have just beat the crap out of my daughter. I just got home from work and was rounding everybody out so that my wife could go get some of whatever it was she needed from the store.

I took my alieve and came back outside to pile the kids in cause the wife wanted everybody to go, and what do I see? About an 8" x 8" scribble of white scratches in the bright red paint of the rear passenger side door. I also see a few scratches up by the front door handle too. Apparently in about 30 seconds of noone looking my daughter decided to pick up a rock off the driveway and "draw" on the car, to which her little sister joined in.

No pics, my wife took the car to go get whatever crap it was she needed.

She says "She's just 3 years old..." to which I reply we're yelled at her how many times for drawing on the walls and the furniture, including the TV? Not to mention that this isn't something that insurance is going to pay for either.

Edit - *breathe in... "It's only a car... It's only a car... It's only a car...*
No I didn't beat her, and no I never would, though her hand got rapped a few times.

Edit #2 - Just had a little chat with my daughter. She knows now what she is and isn't supposed to draw on. Grain of salt though. She "gived" me hugs though, so we're all good.

Edit #3 - What is it with you people and cars? I'm deliberately holding out on any sort of make/model of the car now unless a mod officially states that my future on AT is in jeapordy without said knowledge.

Good thing she didn't run out into the street because you left her alone for 30 seconds.

this is why I support the killing of babies, but am against abortion... everyone looses... oh and extend the defining age of "babies" to 80.

Sucks, but I think you're a bit too hard on the kids, lighten up a little, they're your children, and yelling at them and your wife is really unnecessary. They are your family, irreplaceable, and your car is only a material object. I am not trying to parent your children, but I suggest you explain to them why its bad to write on things, and punish them (no toys, clean room, no desert, no treats etc). I understand you've yelled at them for doing such things, but do they understand why its wrong?

I understand how you feel though, I work in a mall, my car gets hit and dinged up at least twice a week. Luckily for me, I drive a Saturn, so it doesn't dent, but the paint still gets scratched, I wouldn't imagine what else has hit my car but has left no mark. I'd really hate it if I had a really nice car, it'd be dinged up already.

What kind of car btw?

Dead end street, 0 traffic, and we're the last house at the end.

Still shouldn't be leaving your kids alone.

Back yard (garage is behind the house) is fenced in. I was in the kitchen getting a drink for my alieve, which leads to the back yard, and the doors were open.

I did much worse things as a child, and my parents never beat me. Of course, I spent most of my early childhood in special ed and therapy, so maybe they were touchy around me. :)

Why were you in special ed and therapy as a kid?

What kind of car? Just curious. Try some Meguiars paint cleaner on it. Unless she actually broke through the paint, it should come out. If she did break the paint get some touch up paint, a few sheets of fine grit wet sand paper and wet sand the touch up paint smooth. You probably won't even be able to tell after that.

aww man, that is a serious bummer. there's not a whole lot of injustice though. I'd be far more pissed if some anonymous punk keyed it at a parking lot. your wife sounds like a great mother by the way.
