Yeah, I hated it during my 1st month. The damn ortho bastard failed to grind down the sharp edges, so my mouth got all bloody. I hate that guy. He charged me close to $5K too.

when i got braces, it hurt but not terribly, and the pain went away after 2-3 days.

ibuprofin is your friend.

The first few weeks are rough. After that she will usually only be in any pain when she gets them tightened. Braces aren't really that bad once you get used to them. Just make sure to tell her to brush a lot.

First three days are hell. After that, they are a little sore, but not that bad.

Make sure she flosses! Although its a real PITA, your gums can get pretty fked up with braces unless you keep them well cared for.

I had braces back in junior high. Had them done on a school day and still came in after I was done to band rehearsal (play trumpet). It wasnt that bad really. They were still a pain in the ass though and Im glad I dont have to wear them anymore.

i think i sometimes enjoyed my braces, except the ulcers that develop from the sharp parts on the molars, or when the rubbing of metal and cheek doesn't come out well. but i sometimes miss the tight pressure on my teeth

You kinda get used to the pain after a while, except the pain when chewing on something right after tightening. It would take like an hour to eat a banana.
