I tried to test drive the IS-F a few months ago but was told the weather isn't good and there's too much snow. Lexus said it would call me in the spring to let me know when I can come
Going tomorrow at drive an 09 IS-F
Yay, lol.
Btw I'm test driving new cars because I will know what to buy used in a few years
Ill let you guys know how it goes
UPDATE:
So I just got back from test driving the IS-F (if you want to call it a test drive...)
The dealer said he is going to drive the car first to show us the features. Said we are going on back streets only around the block and not on the highway. He takes it out, presses on the gas a few times, and keeps reminding us not to drive close to the curb, etc, as if we have no clue what we are doing.
After a few minutes he lets me get behind the wheel. I take it out and drive casually in automatic mode. I give it some gas and I can feel the power, it goes like crazy. After my 5 seconds of fun the dealer tells me not to use the brakes and go into manual mode, because the brakes are "expensive" as he put it.
I go into manual mode and the car is def faster, at the end of 2nd gear I'm already going 100 km/h on a back street. The steering is responsive and the radius is pretty good too, I made a comlete U-turn with plenty of curb space left, something I def cannot do on my car. After a few more crazy accelerations the dealer tells me "that's good enough sir, that's good" spoiling my fun. I put my pops behind the wheel and he didn't accelerate at all, I guess he didn't want the dealer to shit his pants anymore at this point.
The interior of the car is awesome, I love the blue gauges and everything is pretty high quality, I think I liked it over the CTS-V which I sat in. I only got a few beeps on my drive to indicate shifts etc, but I honestly didn't even pay attention to them because I was having a blast driving not to mention I was focused. People bashed the car pretty bad for the "beeps" but I didn't find them annoying at all. The seat is pretty narrow and grabs you at the back to keep you in place. I'm pretty muscular and fat and I can see how it might not be comfortable on longer trips, or for someone who just has a wide back. There is suprising room at the back, I never rode in the new IS series but I did drive an IS 300 and it wasn't as roomy from what I remember.
The exhaust note of the car is bad ass. Dissapators or not, fake exhausts etc, the sound is a deep rumble that brings a smile to your face. Even at idle on a stoplight, you can hear the "bum bum bum bum bum" rumble of the exhaust, it's cool
Performance wise it's what I expected, 416 HP in a pretty small car, nothing to complain about. I'm not a track person either so I honestly would'nt care, the car serves it's purpose in more ways than you could possibly ever need.
The only downside of the car is my last point. Like my dad put it, it's like licking a lollipop behind a piece of paper. You have a beast car, but, so what? 50 km/h over in Ontario get's you $ 10,000 and your car impounded for 2 weeks. Having a car like this in Germany makes sense, but the practicality of it here is almost none. It's just for show and that odd time here and there where you press the pedal and pray there are no cops around.
Yay, lol.
