My dad's site for his business. http://www.bchone.com/ has been hijacked.... I recently cancelled the hosting with Adaptive.net and intiated a domain transfer with godaddy
Godaddy sent me mail saying I hadn't responded to the transfer request sent to the admin address I never received anything.... the whois seems to indicate the transfer request was sent to adaptive and they refused it?.... In addition they pointed the domain to whatever that site is.... WTF?

.... I'm eventually going to host it at 3-95.com but it looks like I'm SOL till I get this thing handled...

A Whois comes up w/:

Domain Name: BCHONE.COM
Registrar: BULKREGISTER.COM, INC.

Referral URL: http://www.bulkregister.com

Name Server: DNS2.ADAPTIVE.NET

How did you go about getting the domain? Did you purchase it through Adaptive? If so, in the fine print, who technically owns the name? You may be stuck with them if you got a discount price and did not register the name yourself but let them register it in their name and "lease" it from them for the discounted price. Several places do this.

I am a member of Bulkregister and they have a very strict policy regarding domain registration. You are registered through Adaptive and Adaptive is the Bulkregister member. You have to put your request to change registrars directly to Adaptive. They have seven days to respond or their Bulkregister account can be in jeopardy for not properly servicing their clients.

If you send the request to Adaptive and then do not receive a solution within seven working days, then go directly to Bulkregister and file a complaint. They will take immediate action.

BTW, your domain is not hijacked. It is no longer being hosted and with the way virtual domains are being set up, someone else can appear to have your domain if you are no longer at your old IP address. As soon as you have your new name servers registered with the Registrar, it will start pointing to your site again. This has happened to me a couple of times when I de-activated domains for awhile.
