OMG.......they are trying to take 50-60-70 mph winds and make them seem like it's really 120 yet ????????????? OH MY GOD.......GUSTS and STEADY WINDS......of 40 MPH.

So he ranted cause the weather channel staff seemed a bit disappointed?
Considering the fact that its severe storms that give them the most ratings then yeah. Any news organization is disapointed when it does not have any news that would get a lot of viewers, stations live for that stuff.
 
I've been feeling this way the whole time. I only ever heard the news say "category 2" and thought "well that's just a nasty storm, nothing phenomenal." It's only a bit unusual to make it so far north. Hurricanes that get so far north are EXPECTED to be weak.

Never understood why this one is such a big deal.

I record a show that comes on FNC at 3:00AM (Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld). It was replaced with hurricane coverage. Who wants to watch an hour of that at 3:00AM?!
 
The weather folks have been saying for a week, the danger from Irene would be the water Irene carried and not the wind. Add in the fact Irene is big and slow moving means the In land flooding will be severe.
 
LOLOL - NY1 newscasters are starting to show remorse for hyping up the storm. They already sound apologetic, claiming, well speeds are not going to be what we thought, but the evacuations might help those people who fear being without electricity for a while.

It's hilarious because it seems that they are planning to have Con Edison cut power to lower Manhattan regardless if salt water threatens the area or not.

What the fuck kind of bullshit is that? Sounds like Bloomberg is trying to save face.

It sort of makes you sad and hurt.......that they would try to scare people sooo bad.........SURE IT LOOKED ROUGH..........but they NEVER GAVE THE THOUGHT TO............ITS JUST SOOOOOOO BIG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT........IF YOU PUT THAT BIG A THING INTO THE AIR........LIKE PUTTING A 747 UP INTO THE SKY..........YOU HAVE TO POWER IT TOO !!!!!!!!!!!  You have to get energy into the system........either into the JET ENGINES......or into the STORM CLOUDS.........TO KEEP IT MOVING........LIVING.......ACTIVE............!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing to save face against except morons. What should he do wait till it's too late and let NYC become another Katrina? Better safe than sorry. No one had any idea what it was going to end up being, weather isn't perfect. Anyone who has an issue with how this was handled shouldn't have the right to vote because they are too stupid to understand this could have easily done the opposite and intensified causing major damage.

I'm not sure what your talking about. No one ever projected the hurricane hitting New York at anything greater then a Category 1. And from what I can tell they are still predicting Cat. 1 for NYC. A category anything hurricane is still extremely rare for NYC.
 
Whenever the east coast has some sort of weather story, it always gets blown out of proportion.

A month or so ago, I kept hearing about a heat wave in the north east. Wow... here in the south we've been having a constant 105-110 for months and we get just a passing mention in the news. But since a lot of national news stations are based in new york, stuff like that gets more national coverage.
 
I was thinking the same thing. This is the Weather channel's and CNN's big chance to spike up their ratings for a couple of days. Of course they have to hype it up. It's about the $$$. I wonder how many people actually evacuated NYC in anticipation of this thunderstorm.
