Sympathy.

In some degree, time heals.

But it can sometimes take a lot of time when such a close one passes on, like 15 - 20 years.

well put....I lost my dad at age 13...he was 49

May your father rest in peace.

This poem helped me through my grandmother's passing four years ago.

Cry Not My Friends

When you wake up in the morrow and I am no where to be found
When you gently speak my name to the emptiness around
When every beat inside your heart is skipping and unsure
Cry not my friends for I am here, inside your love so pure

When the waves that used to touch your feet have gone back out to sea
When everything you once held dear was lost when you lost me
When the sun that once lit up your face is setting far away
Cry not my friends for time shall pass, but my love for you will stay

When age arrives and children play and pain creeps up on you
When loved ones show you happiness that filled your life so true
When all your expectations have been met, and you go on through that door
Cry not my friends, for I am waiting to hold you tight once more

When beauty in your eyes turn gray and all the rainbow, white
When breath is faint, without the strength, without the urge to fight
When flowers bloom with the rising sun like love within your heart
Cry not my friends, for I am here and we shall never part

May God be with you and your family in this time of sorrow.
