His 30-30 winchester, it was so fucking amazing. That thing has hella kick and power, I'm only 17 and I'm not very big, I'm like 5 feet 9-10 inches and i weigh 150 lbs. It didnt knock me back but the recoil made my arms go up like a foot. After i shot it, it was like i had shellshock or something, my ears were ringing like crazy. My dad told me that his grandpa shot 2 deer at once with it on accident, that tells me it has hella power. Man that was one of the most fun thing I've ever done.

Yeah, put some ear protection on next time. Shoot those things off enough times and...yeah.

For some real fun go plinking. There is a range near us that has a plinking area. I brought an old HP printer, an old vacuum cleaner, a wet floor cone, and a few other plastic items. Nothing quite like a shotgun slug vs. a Laserjet 4si. :)

Are you sure this was a 30-30? As rifle cartridges go the 30-30 is a pretty mild round. Make sure when you shoot it that the butt of the stock is tight against your shoulder, so your entire upper body is absorbing the recoil.

To be fair, usually those 30-30s are pretty light. But still, it shouldn't hurt that much.

.30-30s are pretty tame

My .303 Enfield No5 Jungle Carbine is downright punishing without a shoulder pad

I've always wondered how every vet from the older wars isn't stone cold deaf - not like they were wearing earplugs in those days. 'Course, maybe most of them are by now, for all I know.

And if you want good kick, try an MG-42 - 1200 RPM of 7.92 mm smacking your shoulder can leave some nice designs on your skin. :D

Since most .30-30s are shot from lever-action rifles, and most lever-action rifles use tubular magazines with the cartridges all in a line, using a blunt tip on the bullet prevents the possibility of the tips setting off the other cartridges from the force of the recoil.

At least, that's how I heard it.

Lever action rifles typically have tube magazines where the tip of one bullet is pressed against the ass end of the bullet in front of it. By having the tips blunt instead of pointed, you remove the chance of setting off a round in the magazine and screwing up your rifle.

Edit: Beaten like a red-headed step-child.

Valmet

Well it made it yes. But Sako M95 or RK 95 TP would be more accurate.

Hey, I was close :p

Not terribly hard to peg country of origin though. The sights and bent bolt handle are dead giveaways.
